Summer and dolls

It's been ages since I updated! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I've not died or anything as dramatic as that! ^.^;; I've just had a lot of other things on my mind, and since summer holidays started I haven't gotten out much. Right now it's another rainy day, which will surely be dedicated to Go studies and my doll project. Yes, my sweets, the doll is near completion! Yesterday I strung her and tested if she could stand - and she could! First time standing is really special for the doll maker! *giggles*

It's taken me a long time, but considering I've been studying full time and was a complete novis at sculpting I think taking lots of time was rather inevitable. Since the project started I've gotten much, much better at sculpting, although I have to confess that hands are incredibly difficult to make.

It's been so much fun working on her that I'm already having loose plans for what the next doll should be. It will probably be a smaller doll than this one - she did turn out to be 60 cm tall after all! I'm unsure whether than one should be male or female though. If female she will probably not have any breasts, so I suppose it'll be 'neither'...? Anyway. There's only a tiny bit of work left on this doll. One of her hands need to get drilled out, and I need to shape her left shoulder joint (on the inside). Besides that, it's sanding and painting left - and she's done! Then there's face up, attaching eyelashes and sewing clothes for her. :D
